Blizzard announced that Starcraft 2 was - again - delayed. In an official press release, Blizzard announced that StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty, the first installment of the Starcraft II trilogy, previously indicated to be released in the last quarter of this year, is delayed to the first half of 2010. The official announcement stated that the massive amount of work required to overhaul Battle.net was the main reason for the delay.

so delayed again 2 year s now+

this is another reason i woudl say d3 is never coming out anytime in the next 5 years or more if ever . blizzard sucks end of story

Blizzard is horribly notorious for delaying everything.

This should have been expected, and I'd've been far more surprised if the game actually released this year.

A bit different, I think. GW2 hasn't been given multiple release dates which stick for a few months and then get pushed back another 6 months.

However, it does make me laugh when people go "oh I'm going to play D3 instead of GW2" (and not only the ridiculousness at the idea that one can only play one game at a time). Considering Blizzard's track record with delays and how long they take with games, I'm betting on GW2 being released first.

I mean, just look at what happened with Starcraft: Ghost...not that I'm saying that D3 or SC2 will go that way, but it shows pretty well how much Blizzard's stuff gets pushed further and further back.

I wasn't referring to GW2, I was referring to most new games. No one hits their original target release date anymore.

I'm not particularly too upset with the delay as long as Battle.net is the actual reason for the delay - if they're going to force you to play over Battle.net instead of using LAN (obviously for piracy issues), then Battle.net better be flawless. If I ever have server problems when I could have just been playing on a LAN I'm going to be furious.

IMO, yes.

Missing a date looks bad. Not having a date to miss looks better.

At this rate, I wouldn't be surprised if GW2 comes out BEFORE StarCraft 2!

They may have not delayed release, but they have delayed beta. Not as bad as delaying release, but still bad enough considering we have absolutely no information on GW2 yet.

Even if Strain didn't leave, I highly doubt GW2 would have been released before SC2. I say GW2 won't be released until 2011.

Anyways, SC2 was pushed back to Q1 of 2010, not first half (even though I wouldn't be surprised that it gets pushed back to Q2). Blizzard's CEO said that we can expect 2 releases next year, hopefully it's SC2 and D3.

Not surprised, but still disappointed.
On the other hand, I would rather get a 100% awesome game and wait a bit longer than get a half-baked product now.

they have not given a date for betas yet either nothing gw 2 wise has been delaied at all

This. SC1 was similarly delayed, and if we get anything close to that kind of quality...
